Coping with the changes that accompany addiction recovery can be challenging. The addition of incarceration and rehab often adds hurdles that might appear daunting. There may be criminal charges, probation, or other court ordered contingencies that cause defeating feelings towards finding even an ordinary path in life again. With me ordinary is just a steppingstone to great victories.

There are also family, friends, and relationship components that may require navigation. Amends need to be made, and trust needs to be rebuilt. I also fully understand how dating or finding new relationships today with an unlawful background can be punishing, not only will a potential mate dig up your entire past, but their family will also, leaving a trail of cruel judgement, but worry not, I’ve discovered paths to the rewards you deserve in sobriety. You don’t own that judgement from new encounters, and I will be walking a new chapter with you. Sometimes there are people you feel you need for support that won’t let you back in their lives because they felt betrayed, we’ll work through the overwhelming feelings of abandonment together and you can find peace.

Rat race: the unpleasant life of people who have jobs that require them to work very hard in order to compete with others for money, power, status, etc. In today’s busy world, the rat race is the norm for just making ends meet or supporting an average home. There’s an incredible amount of uncertainty, anxiety, depression, and stress across the globe today and healthcare system statistics are proving the impact this is having on our minds and bodies.

Avoiding burnout involves taking some steps to improve your work/life balance. Creating time for hobbies, exercise, reducing stressful activities, and setting realistic goals like taking time to connect with your family are very important. The signs come when we start skipping vacations, staying late at the office, taking work home, canceling time with friends, or answering correspondence after hours. We begin to live in the fight-or-flight response to all our activities and find extremes to be our comfort zones. This doesn’t only create stress for us, it adds secondhand stress to those we care about.

The most important component to obtaining balance is setting boundaries and removing the guilt of making yourself a priority. Do you fear letting others down in allowing yourself to reduce stress and feel happier? Together we’ll confront that guilt, identify ways to release the bond from your life, and celebrate clarity. We often think that in order to be successful we are going to be stressed, after all, big decisions carry big impacts. The problem is that stress reduces performance and your ability to focus.

Are you married to your career? Are you losing sleep? Wasting your Sundays in anxiety about the overwhelming workload waiting for you on Monday? Making more trips to the doctor’s office? If you work with me, we can develop strategies that create NO answers to these questions. The common aspiration is that retirement will be the easy life, the reward for years of hard work. No responsibilities, no worries, just kick back and do whatever you want when you want. But there is so much more than meets the eye and many people aren’t ready for it.

The sudden misplacement of purpose and identity, immediate loss of routine, separation from relationships with colleagues; all these things can cause an unsettling emptiness which for some leads to anxiety, stress, and depression when there’s no plan in place. This can be even harder when you’re single or lost your spouse. These feelings are also compounded when we retire from careers we enjoyed, causing greater distress in adapting to retirement.

My goal is to help you aspire for a balance between relaxation and activity. Whether you’re planning to retire or are retired, we will explore many aspects of preparation, organizing, finding new purpose, building new relationships, leisure activities, charitable pursuits, paid or unpaid work, hobbies, community engagement, avoiding financial scams, arranging priorities, creating goals, building confidence, identifying strengths, and meeting new friends.

About Me

My name is Cory, a certified Life Coach with over 15 years of experience helping people overcome limiting beliefs that hold them back from living their best life. My life experience and training not only freed me but has helped others find healthy perceptions of themselves and navigate their journey.

First a little about me. My background includes working 24/7/365 on-duty and on-call in public service positions for 29 years. These years were devoted to serving community needs daily by solving personal and specialized community-wide issues where skill, empathy, and compassion became central to meaningfully living into my job description. The fuel for my daily motivation was the desire to better the overall life of everyone I encountered. Draining at times as it was, my fulfillment only increased my passion to serve individuals with care and respect.

For 6 years I also worked as an emergency services first responder, and 6 additional years as a volunteer officer with a County Sheriff’s Department, this further revealed the desire to help others move toward their best life. My personal journey has not been painless. It includes trauma, premature family loss, addiction, job transitions/relocation, career burnout, business failure, relationship struggles and success. Through all this, my dedication to human care has led me into an even deeper passion to serve others in a more personal and confidential capacity. Teaching anger management in jails and leading jail ministries revealed again our need for compassion, understanding, and coaching. Personally, I know what it’s like to feel unfulfilled and lost, but I also know the paths to turn things around. I’ve had my own coach for years, and that’s because I appreciate having someone that believes in me and holds me accountable.

I am devoted to helping people realize that they are more empowered than they think by bringing vision and encouragement from my own journey to theirs.
